Pet Aid United (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit petaidunited.org or make a donation, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
- Information you give us: name, email address, phone number, billing address and any message you send through our contact form.
- Payment information: donations are processed by Stripe, Inc. Your card details are entered on Stripe’s secure checkout page and are never stored on our servers. We receive only a confirmation of the donation (amount, date, name, email and the last four digits of the card).
- Usage data: IP address, browser type, device, referring pages and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar technologies for security, advertising measurement and improving the website.
How We Use Your Information
- To process donations and email donation receipts
- To manage recurring donations and respond to refund or cancellation requests
- To answer your questions and support requests
- To send updates about our rescue work, only if you have agreed to receive them
- To prevent fraud and meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations
Cookies and Advertising
We use a small number of cookies, including Google Ads cookies that help us understand whether our advertising reaches people interested in animal rescue. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.
Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with:
- Stripe, to process payments securely (see Stripe’s Privacy Policy)
- Service providers that help us run the website, such as hosting and email providers, under confidentiality obligations
- Government or law-enforcement authorities when required by law
Data Retention and Security
We keep donation records for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes (generally seven years) and other personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above. The website uses SSL encryption and we limit access to personal data to authorized people.
Your Rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or unsubscribe from our emails at any time, by contacting us at help@petaidunited.org. We will respond within 30 days.
Children’s Privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
